Effective specimen preparation for AFB diagnostics must
be carried out in a contained environment with sterile
reagents to prevent cross contamination and reduce the
potential hazards to laboratory employees. Using bulk
reagents that are taken in and out of the hood for weeks
on end is not only inconvenient but also significantly
increases the possibility of reagent contamination.
Alpha-Tec Systems has solved this problem with the
NAC-PAC™ EA3. NAC-PAC™ EA3 brings together the
optimum combination of Alpha-Tec Systems single use
specimen preparation reagents in a package that can
easily be transferred to a bio safety cabinet.
NAC-PAC™ EA3 includes six bench trays which each contain sufficient NAC-PAC™ Red digestion / decontamination solution for
ten patient tests, as well as ten bottles each of NPC-67™ Neutralization Buffer and Pellet Resuspension Buffer packaged for
individual patient tests. This combination of unique reagents ensures decontamination, provides visual confirmation of a neutral
pH, generates effective neutralization with no titration, creates exceedingly tight final sample characteristics, and with individual
patient test packaging, removes cross contamination concerns. These measures of control are unavailable in traditional reagents;
they allow for greater recovery of Mycobacteria and increased diagnostic accuracy.
