Neutralizing Buffers

XPR-plus™ Neutralizing Buffer replaces M/15 Phosphate Buffer providing for rapid buffering of the specimen following the decontamination procedure. Rapid neutralization of the NaOH by
XPR-plus™ Buffer allows increased survival of the Mycobacterial organisms and assures the proper pH of the specimen during the centrifugation / concentration procedure. In order to achieve a very tight pH required by automated rapid growth detection systems, the XPR-plus™ Buffered pellet must be followed with the addition of 1.5 to 2.0ml of Pellet Resuspension Buffer.

NPC-67™ (67mM) A.F.B. Buffer is designed to neutralize the NALC-NaOH decontamination reagents (up to 3%) and yield a specimen suitable for direct DNA probe procedures on the specimen pellet.
NPC-67™ Buffer replaces the M/15 Phosphate Buffer and gives a rapid pH neutralization of the sodium hydroxide (used in the NALC / NaOH digestion decontamination procedure), unlike the M/15 Phosphate Buffer which leaves the specimen with a strong basic pH. In order to achieve a very tight pH, required by automated rapid growth detection systems, the NPC-67™ Buffered pellet must be followed with the addition of 1.5 to 2.0ml of Pellet Resuspension Buffer.
